About Salcombe Harbour Moorings

Annual deep-water, foreshore and pontoon moorings run by Salcombe Harbour Authority across the Salcombe-Kingsbridge estuary, allocated from waiting lists with priority for South Hams council tax payers.

Salcombe Harbour Authority, part of South Hams District Council, manages moorings throughout the Salcombe-Kingsbridge estuary and its creeks, from the harbour office at Whitestrand. The number of moorings has been capped by the harbour board for many years.

Resident licences cover deep-water moorings (with a cheaper rate above Tosnos Point), drying foreshore berths, and small-boat pontoon berths at Shadycombe, Kingsbridge, Batson and Victoria Quay. Owners with their own ground tackle pay a licence fee instead of mooring rental. All boats in the estuary also pay annual harbour dues per metre plus a per-horsepower supplement for engines.

Waiting lists are open to people who pay council tax to South Hams District Council; a mooring with no qualifying applicant waiting may be let to others on an annual basis. Visitor moorings, a water taxi and winter storage afloat are also offered.
