About Dart Harbour Moorings
The harbour authority's annual mooring scheme on the Dart between Dartmouth and Totnes, with swinging, trot, pontoon, mud and dinghy berths allocated from waiting lists.
Dart Harbour and Navigation Authority lets residential moorings along the river from Dartmouth up to Totnes, most of them around Dartmouth and Kingswear. Types include swinging and trot moorings graded by water depth, drying mud berths, pontoons with and without water and electricity, and walk-ashore dinghy pontoons and racks.
Annual fees are charged per metre with a minimum chargeable length, and boats of 4m and over also pay annual harbour dues. Lengths are rounded up to the next half metre.
Moorings are allocated from waiting lists for each area and type. The harbour says quieter shallow-water swinging moorings, for example at Cornworthy or Galmpton, can come up quickly for some lengths, while the Kingswear pontoons, Dartmouth walk-ashore pontoons and Stoke Gabriel pontoon have waits of eight to ten years.
